ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was an athlete of multiple sports throughout her youth, but she was only introduced to soccer at 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and was awarded the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also placed third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to work at Diamond Bar High School, where she developed her soccer skills. She was named an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She was also a participant of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley, where she was the captain of the California Golden Bears team in scoring from the very beginning of the season. She was instrumental in taking the team to the NCAA Tournament every year and twice to the second round. Morgan was one of four finalist for the Honda Sports Award. This resulted in her being the first Hermann Trophy finalists to be placed as the top player on the list. Morgan completed her studies at Berkeley in the first semester of 2010, and was ranked as the third best player among all-time points, goals, and assists. Morgan was able to maintain soccer careers at both the national and college levels during her college education. Morgan was injured in the ACL in her first season as an Berkeley player. She was not able to practice for the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April 2008. Morgan scored her first international goal in Mexico at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part-time player in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals and earned her team a gold medal. One of these was a victory goal against Italy which earned the U.S. team a final spot at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team, and he was the captain of the U.S. team to victory over France. Morgan even though the U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score a goal or assist.
